It is really gratifying to learn that Tibetan language and culture far exceeds its political boundary.

References from G. A. Grierson 1881 …..make us believe that Balti dialect and many Tibetan dialects from Nepal share many similarities. Cannot say if Balti comes from Bal-yul. Ti in old Tibetan / Zhang-zhung skad means water. Since majority of first natives of Ladakh and Baltistan came from Monyul (north India); it is possible that many of them belonged to Nepal….
